I’m a home-cook with a love of all things food. I watch Julia Child (and yeah, sometimes even the Food Network) and one of my prize possessions is a rather dogeared signed copy of Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential.

About three years ago, my husband Steve and I began a low-carb diet for health reasons, and thus began our quest for culinary excellence…that didn’t include potatoes, pasta, or bread. The Atkins mode is fine if you want to eat steak and eggs for every meal, but sometimes you just can’t face one more grilled chicken salad. We craved variety, innovation, comfort food - all the things we thought we’d have to leave behind when we decided to cut carbs.

The result of our search is this blog. Here, we’ll take you on a culinary adventure, posting new low-carb recipes that taste fabulous - and letting you know which ones didn’t make the cut. We’ll do the legwork, and you can enjoy the results.

Of course, we’ve all got to cheat once in a while, so I’ll also post a “Cheat Sweet” from time to time: a thoroughly decadent dessert that’s worth every glorious gram of sugar and every single calorie. And from time to time, you can expect a “Saturday Soundoff,” where I rant about something in the food world that bugs me (or that I’m thrilled with, depending on my mood).

My hope is that you’ll learn something, maybe get a laugh, and come back again and again.

Life’s an adventure: skip the filler.
